Privacy Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
This policy explains what information WriteRemote (“we”, “us”) collects when you use writeremote.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. WriteRemote is a job board for remote writing roles open to people in the United States.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and a password (stored only as a one-way hash).
- Things you save: saved searches, category preferences, hidden companies, and jobs you track, including any notes you add.
- Employer posts: job details, company name, website and logo, and the email address used for checkout.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, collected through Google Analytics using cookies.
- Security data: IP addresses and timestamps of sign-in attempts, used to prevent abuse and lock out repeated failed sign-ins.
- Essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in.
How we use information
- To run the site: show jobs, keep you signed in, and save your searches, preferences and tracker.
- To send account emails, such as email verification, password resets and listing reminders for employers.
- To process employer payments and publish paid listings.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To protect the site, our users and employers from fraud, spam and abuse.
We share information only with service providers that help us run WriteRemote, and only as needed for their service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Job listings come from employers and from public applicant tracking systems. When you click Apply, you leave WriteRemote, and the employer’s own privacy policy applies.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete saved searches, hidden companies and tracked jobs at any time from your account.
- You can ask us to delete your account and associated data.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on. Blocking the session cookie will sign you out.
- Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information. Contact us to make a request; we will not treat you differently for doing so.
Retention
We keep account data while your account is active and delete it within 30 days of a deletion request, except where we must keep records (for example, payment records for tax purposes).
Security
We use HTTPS, hash passwords, and limit access to personal information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password.
Children
WriteRemote is for job seekers and employers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. For significant changes, we will notify account holders by email.
